Economic Development & Urban Renewal

Sherman & Howard's public finance attorneys have long been actively involved in assisting local governments in obtaining financing for public infrastructure. In order to promote economic growth and revitalization of a community, local governments have turned to such entities as urban renewal authorities, downtown development authorities, business improvement districts, redevelopment agencies and other forms of improvement districts used to facilitate the acquisition and construction of such improvements. Sherman & Howard attorneys act as bond counsel and disclosure counsel on numerous tax increment bond issues and also is on the forefront of drafting legislation to implement specialized laws to facilitate these financings. We also serve on committees and discussion groups to address the specific issues presented by such financings.
