Sexual Harassment

Sherman & Howard's sexual harassment attorneys aid employers in avoiding costly sexual harassment lawsuits. Sexual harassment is a form of sex discrimination that violates the Civil Rights Acts of 1964 and 1991. Unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature amount to sexual harassment when the conduct explicitly or implicitly affects a worker's employment; unreasonably interferes with a worker's job performance; or creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive work environment. We take action to prevent occurrences of sexual harassment by training employees to recognize behaviors that are unsuitable for the workplace and to report such misconduct when it is observed, and by coordinating with management in creating an effective grievance process that takes immediate and appropriate action. Should a claim of sexual harassment occur, we vigorously defend employers before the Equal Employment Opportunities Commission (EEOC) and in court.
