Cable Television & Programming

Sherman & Howard's Cable Television and Programming Practice Group has represented North American MSOs on a wide variety of matters since the late 1960s. As the cable industry developed in the Denver area, we developed with it. We represented several Denver-based cable companies from the infancy of the industry through the growing-pains of the 1970s and 1980s, then through consolidation and expansion in the 1990s, and we continue to represent them in today's competitive environment. As advisors to the true pioneers of the cable industry, Sherman & Howard attorneys have developed not only a high level of expertise, but also a wealth and depth of experience that simply cannot be duplicated elsewhere. We know all of the major industry participants, from the MSOs to the programmers and the brokers, at both the institutional and individual levels. Our knowledge and history reaches from the corporate boardrooms of the largest MSOs down to the smallest systems. We have more than two dozen attorneys with substantial and current cable industry experience that dates back decades. Many of us have unique industry perspectives, including three of our attorneys with more than 10 years experience as cable executives, one of whom is the former General Counsel of United Artists, TCI and AT&T Broadband, and currently sits on the board of GCI; another of whom was a Senior VP at AT&T Broadband; and the third of whom managed the mergers and acquisitions activity for a top 5 MSO.
