New NLRB General Counsel Named

By Ted Olsen

Lafe Solomon, a career National Labor Relations Board attorney, has been named by President Obama to serve as Acting General Counsel for the NLRB, effective June 21, 2010.  Mr. Solomon replaced General Counsel Ronald Meisburg, who resigned the day before.  Mr. Meisburg's term was not due to expire until August 2010.

The General Counsel's office is responsible for the investigation and prosecution of alleged unfair labor practices under the Labor Management Relations Act.

Mr. Solomon began his career with the NLRB in 1972 as a field examiner.  He served as Staff Attorney to ten different Board Members.  He has also held many other General Counsel and Board positions, including most recently, director of the NLRB's Office of Representation Appeals.
